This fairly small facility has a nice outdoor patio. Its
clientele is skewed towards older men, sometimes VERY old.
What makes it attractive is it can be quite busy during the

"Little Italy" trolley stop is right at its front door.
It is located on West Cedar Street near PCH [Pacific Coast

Blacks Beach [Nude Beach]
Black's Beach
has more visitors and more land area than any nude beach in the
United States.

Located between the upscale
communities of La Jolla and Del Mar Black's Beach is a mile long
stretch of mostly male nudity. On a summer Saturday thousands of
naked men strut their stuff in the surf. The gay area is the area to
the north (closest to Del Mar) and the straight area is in the
middle. The "official" name of the beach is "Torrey Pines State
Beach" but it is more famous for its adopted name "Black's Beach." A
family named "Black" use to own a lot of property there at one time.
This beach has managed to keep its clothing optional status
for the sole reason it is a very difficult place to get to. It is
easiest to walk along the beach from the Del Mar side. From the La
Jolla side it is only accessible during extreme low tides. The beach
is surrounded by 15 story cliffs dotted with goat trails that have
been carved over the years by beach goers. If you choose to park at
the glider port up top it is a very athletic hike to the bottom.

There are no restrooms or snack bars. Wear a good pair of walking
shoes (flip-flops will not do). Bring snacks, water and possibly
toilet paper. There are no trees and no shade. If you have to
relieve yourself it will have to be in the ocean or in the bushes.
Wear sun screen. The sun is relentless and reflects off of the water
and the sand. Fair skinned people will be red as lobsters in a
matter of minutes.
There is some light sex activity in the bushes on the cliffs above
the gay portion of the beach but they are heavily patrolled and lifeguards do give
citations. Be very careful--even paranoid about being discovered by
law enforcement. Don't let lifeguards see you climbing the cliffs
towards the sex-bushes. If they see you they will get on their
megaphones and shout you down.
How to get to Blacks: You will
need a car or be willing to take a long bus trip to UCSD.
Torrey Pines State Beach
Entrance: - From town take Interstate 5 north, exit Carmel Valley Road west - Turn left on Pacific Coast Hwy - Park in free spaces along
the highway (as far south as possible) or in
pay lot at south end of beach. Parking fee is about $5. There are
also public restrooms and outdoor showers.

Start walking south along the
beach. After a mile and a half you will come to a rock that juts
towards the sea, go around it and continue walking. It’s another
quarter mile to the beach. Beware of high-tides, they can make this walk
difficult. You will know you have reached it once you see naked men
walking around.

These are the 15
story cliffs which keep Black's Beach isolated.

Kearny Mesa [Adult books]
F Street
7865 Balboa Avenue
About 20 very cruisy video booths large enough for two
people. Management usually looks the other way.

San Diego Sports Arena [Adult
theaters]
Adult Depot
3489 Kurtz Street
This adult bookstore contains 2 small movie theaters. They
are connected together and you can go back and forth
between the two. Each has about 20 movie theater seats. You
pay about $6.00 to get in for a several hour period. With
your admission card you can leave and come back without
additional charge. The movies shown are straight but there
is loads of gay sex in the seats. Sometimes the guys are
straight [but hot and sexy] closet cases and sometimes the
place is full of nothing but trolls.
Kind of hard to find. It is
located on a one--way street behind the Sports Arena. It is
easiest to turn onto Hancock street and follow the road that
hugs the parking lot of the Sports Arena.

El Cajon [Public gym]
24 Hour Fitness
850 Arnele Avenue
Located across the street
from the Wal--Mart in Parkway Plaza shopping center this 24
Hour Fitness has a men's locker room that has an open group
shower, Jacuzzi whirlpool, steam room, and dry sauna. It
rarely gets crowded but is very cruisy and sometimes things
happen. Boys will be boys.

Local 619-293-7078
Toll Free 800-258-2280
http://www.hillcrestinn.net/
Located in the very heart of
the gay district the Hillcrest Inn is within walking
distance of gay bars and dance clubs. The Club San Diego
bathhouse is only 3 blocks away. Great hotel for bringing
back one nighters. Parking may be a problem as it is
everywhere in the cramped Hillcrest district.

The Spa at Grand
Del Mar
Incredible!
Hands down this is the most upscale and luxurious spa in the San
Diego area. The men's area has beautiful carpets, wallpaper and
tile work. Marble is everywhere and done with great care
and craftsmanship. Gold plated fixtures in the toilets! It
features spacious lockers, a large Jacuzzi, a small steam room
[all marble] and a small but adequate dry sauna. By the Jacuzzi
there are three lounge beds for relaxing stocked with a variety
of magazines. Free bottled water and a bucket of cucumber slices
for your eyes.
There is a TV
room with a fire place, beautiful wood panel walls and
red-leather overstuffed chairs reminiscent of a millionaire
"men's club" library. It is stocked with free mixed-nuts,
fruit and flavored teas.

Included with
admission is a full gym with treadmills and stair-climbers as
well as access to a full-sized [adults only] hotel pool with
poolside lunch service which can be charged to the credit card
you used to check into the spa.
The pool is
surrounded on three sides by the hotel's marvelous Mediterranean
architecture. There is also an outdoor hot tub encircled by day
beds.

The best part
is that day passes are available to
non-hotel guests for only
$25. An incredible bargain for a day of luxury.
Now the bad
news. If you would like a service they are very pricey.
Manicures start at $70 and massages and facials START at $175
[and a 20% gratuity is automatically added to your bill]. $175 +
$35 = $210! for a 60 minute treatment. Prices climb to
$300 & $400 for 90 minute treatments.

The entire hotel
is something to see with "old world" interiors that envelop you.
There are sweeping views of rolling hills in every direction
giving you the feeling you have been transported to the
hillsides of Tuscany.
Leave your
troubles behind -- but bring you gym clothes and swimsuit and
spend the day engorged in luxury [for only $25!]. Don't miss it!
To reach the
Grand Del Mar take freeway 805 or 5 north to freeway 56 east.
Once on 56 east take the second exit "Carmel Country Road." Turn
left [head south] on Carmel Country Road. About a quarter mile
from the freeway exit is Grand Del Mar Way. Turn left onto Grand
Del Mar Way. Be careful the signage is very small.

La Costa Spa
Carlsbad
About a 40
minute drive from San Diego is a completely self-contained day
spa located within the La Costa Hotel complex. This is
definitely NOT the place for cruising but it is the perfect
place to relax for the day. They feature 80 treatment rooms,
their own private pool [shown in the photo above] and a full
service cafe for lunch or dinner. Bring your swimsuit as the
pool is not clothing optional. The main drawback is there is no
gym. A day pass is quite pricey at $60 but is only $30 after
4:00pm. If you are in desperate need of a "spa day" this is a
good choice.
