Overview: Although Palm Springs does not have a bathhouse per se many of the small gay resorts and hotels serve the same purpose. Many of them are clustered around a serpentine street call "Warm Sands." Many of the small hotels are walled off from the outside world and permit nudity. Some offer "day passes." For a small fee you may enter the hotel and use the facilities and cruise the rooms for the day (or night). On a busy holiday or high season weekend "Warm Sands" itself can be quite cruisey with guys offering themselves up on the public street. Some hotels do not officially offer "day passes" but this does not deter horny men from sneaking in with the legitimate guests and cruising the rooms. Be careful, however, some resorts may permit nudity but frown on sexual activity and cruising conduct. Some hotels can be quite uptight so be sure to choose carefully.

If you are unfamiliar with the Palm Springs area and are looking for the best action it would be a good idea to choose a Warm Sands hotel. Probably the hotel that is the most sexually active is the All Worlds Resort. Two other good bets are the Mirage Complex and Inn Exile.

Notes on Palm Springs:

Gays are welcome just about everywhere in Palm Springs. Unfortunately, it lacks a central gay ghetto. Most of the bars, shops and dance clubs are evenly spread throughout Palm Springs. The only thing that comes close to a central gay area is East Arenas Road [at Indian Canyon Drive]. The main bar there is the Rainbow Cactus. There are a couple of other bars and a gay shop there as well. The main shopping/dining street is South Palm Canyon Drive. The city of Palm Springs has one of the highest per capita gay populations in the United States. Higher, in fact, than San Francisco.

The top star is East Arenas Road and the bottom star is the Warm Sands area.
